howdy!
Kayla most recently severed as the in-house photographer for Emerson College Athletics from 2021-2024. From a DIII NCAA Men’s Basketball at-large bid to media days, she covered the day-to-day of the College’s fourteen varsity sports.
Prior, she worked at The Berkeley Beacon, a student-run newspaper at Emerson College, from January 2020 to September 2020. While at the Beacon, she worked as a staff writer before advancing to assistant sports editor.
Following her resignation, Kayla co-founded mSports Magazine, the only Emerson publication dedicated solely to sports and the voices of student-athletes. As Multimedia Managing Editor, she oversaw the design, video, audio, and photography sections of the magazine and the projects they produced. These projects include print editions of the magazine, The Non-Generic Sports Podcast, and photoshoots conducted by the staff.
For three summers, Kayla worked as a staff photographer at Camp Longhorn Inks Lake. She was responsible for taking daily photos of campers, editing them, and making sure they are ready for the website. During her time at camp, she shot water sports, land activities, dances, Fourth of July, and many other activities unique to Camp Longhorn.
Kayla graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Journalism with a photography minor from Emerson in May 2023, and graduated with a Master of Arts degree in Sports Communication at Emerson in 2024. Despite being from Texas, she loves the Red Sox.
Previously: Worcester Red Sox, Seacoast United, Emerson Athletics, Cali Girls Live, Kerrville Daily Times, EmSports Magazine, Berkeley Beacon, Emerson Channel Sports, The EVVY Awards, Emerson National Broadcasting Society, Camp Longhorn, Daniel J. Hollis Foundation, Rising Star Basketball Camps
