state of the program:
This season the Emerson women’s basketball team went 8-17 overall and 3-7 in the NEWMAC. Numerous injuries stifled their hopeful season, but the young team hopes to bounce back next year. Highlights of the season were their winter break trip to Puerto Rico and the Mental Health Awareness game.
Mental Health Matters
The Emerson Basketball Program partnered with Doc Wayne Youth Services for Mental Health Awareness Games on February 8, 2023. The collaboration was aimed at advancing mental health initiatives for young people by leveraging the power of sport.
Doc Wayne Youth Services is a Boston-based non-profit organization whose sport-infused therapies improve mental health. Everything that Doc Wayne stands for – mental health advocacy, knowledge, leadership, passion, genuine and hard work – are all ideals that Emerson Basketball wholeheartedly believes in.
Ava Salti, class of 2024, was the main organizer for the event. Her, along with both teams’ efforts, reached the goal of $2,500, ultimately raising $2,714.
